BONSAI FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS
"Bon": A thin dish or bowl. "Sai": A tree or other plant which is planted in a container.
The art of a Bonsai form is an ancient Chinese horticultural practice, which was then partially redeveloped under the influence of Japanese Zen Buddhism. Bonsai's are meant to bring that Zen and Feng Shui into a room.
Ideally, yes. The Juniper and Chinese Banyan Bonsai trees are generally low maintenance plants by having simple signals of what they need. Knowing when to water them and giving enough sunlight. If your bonsai has dry soil, it needs more water. If your bonsai leaves are drying out, it needs more water. If the leaves/foliage is wilted or turning brown, that may mean that they need more sunlight.
There are a couple indicators that tells you what the "browning" means...
1. If your bonsai is starting to turn brown, don't be alarmed. This could mean two things, if you've pruned recently, you may have pruned it the wrong way. Two; it may need more sunlight.
If your Juniper Bonsai has some brown and mostly green, it needs more sunlight. If it's brown all over chances are it is dead, but to make sure, scratch the bark a little to see the color. If the color is green on the inside, it can still be saved! If it is yellow or brown, it's dead and there's nothing you can do to save it.
